A day well spent in Paris, 18th District

All of the different areas of Paris are like small villages. Depending on where you live or where you hang out, everyone living in Paris has their favorite places to eat, drink, visit and relax. Here is how I love to spend one day in the Montmartre area!

First, things first, before heading to Cook’n With Class, with a coffee to go, I would pass by Boulangerie Mamiche to grab a cookie and a croissant.ย  Boulangerie Mamiche is quite young in this neighborhood, but in one year, they became the go-to spot for comforting french sweets and pastries.

Ok, it’s not in the 18th arrondissement, but it’s close enough, and it’s definitely worth a try!

My next stop would be place Jules Joffrin, where I would meet up with Chef Patrick from Cook’n with Class Paris, for a morning Market Class. With the other students in class, we would carefully choose ingredients that we would like to cook with later in the kitchen.ย  During our market visit, Chef Patrick gives us many tips for choosing our meat and produce for the day as well as future advice.

After all the cooking and eating, you might need a nap,ย  but there is no time for a nap in such a city like Paris!ย  Let’s go for a digestive walk towards Sacre Coeur. It’s uphill, therefore it’s perfect for burning all the calories we ate!ย  Along the rue Ordener, I observe people chatting and having a drink on the terrasse. I take the rue Danremont, and then rue Mercadet, where Laย Goutte d’Or patisserie is. Their display shows some very elegant pastries, such as the Lemon and Yuzu tart and the Vanilla and Pecan Tart. In my honest opinion, they are both delicious so you won’t go wrong choosingย one or the other.ย  You will definitely not be disappointed by their look nor by their taste!

Almost dinner time now!

Sacre Coeur

I head to Sacre Coeur and try to catch the sunset from the top set of stairs in front of the Basilica. I’m hungry again! Direction Le Grand 8. A French restaurant on the opposite side of the touristy Place du Tertre. There, the owner welcomes you and generously takes care of you during your experience.ย  The restaurant is usually packed, but believe me, the food and wine are great and there is a friendly staff, so what else could you ask for?

If you are lucky enough or booked in advance, you might be seated by the windows, where you will have a great view of the many Paris rooftops.

Are you up for one more drink? A 15 min walk would take you to the Terrass Hotel where you can sip a cocktail on the rooftop while watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle every hour.
