Meet Mocha Mousse: Pantone’s Color of the Year 2025 🟤

@pantone has done it again! This year’s star color is Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230), and honestly, it looks like it tastes delicious. We’re talking rich, chocolatey vibes with just a hint of “please pour me a second cup of coffee.” ☕️🍫

Here at Cook’n With Class, we couldn't resist taking this as a sign from the dessert gods to share one of our all-time faves: Quick Chocolate Mousse. This silky, smooth treat is basically Mocha Mousse in edible form — coincidence? We think not.

Want a taste of 2025? Here’s the recipe you need:

🍫 Quick Chocolate Mousse Recipe 🍫
Ingredients

1 large egg yolk

10g sugar

150g dark chocolate (65% cacao)

50g heavy cream (35%)

50g milk

250g cold heavy cream (35%)

🧑‍🍳 How to Make It 🧑‍🍳
1️⃣ Whisk the egg yolk and sugar together until light & fluffy.
2️⃣ Heat the cream and milk (just before boiling) and slowly whisk it into the yolk/sugar mix.
3️⃣ Cook on low until thickened (it should coat the back of a spoon).
4️⃣ Pour this creamy goodness over your chopped chocolate and whisk until silky smooth.
5️⃣ Let it cool while you whip the cold heavy cream (soft peaks, not stiff).
6️⃣ Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture — start with 1/4 of it, then the rest.
7️⃣ Eat it right away (no judgment) or refrigerate until you’re ready to indulge.

For a true mocha flavor, add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee or a shot of espresso to the warm chocolate mixture right after the chocolate has melted but before folding in the whipped cream. ☕️

Save this recipe because this mousse is calling your name. Forget “dressing on-trend” for 2025. Let’s eat on-trend instead. 😏

No matter where you are in France, this pastry—made with flaky, buttery dough and filled with a delicious bar of chocolate—is a beloved treat at breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

But here’s the fun part: the debate is so heated that it’s become a cultural divide! Ask any French person where they stand, and you'll get an argument as passionate as any sports rivalry. Some say pain au chocolat is the only authentic name, while others argue chocolatine is more in line with the regional traditions of southwestern France.
