Chef Reviews: Best Crêpes & Waffles in Paris

As a pâtissier chef instructor at Cook’n With Class, I’m always on the lookout for places that live up to the high standards of cuisine Parisienne. So, when my family and I decided to spend a day in the heart of Paris, we couldn’t resist the allure of La Crème de Paris—a spot many have dubbed the home of the best crêpes and waffles in Paris.

Let me set the scene for you: It was a sunny afternoon, and we were strolling along the Seine with Notre Dame in the background. The kids were getting hungry (and so was I, to be honest), and our grumbling bellies led us straight to La Crème de Paris.

Crêpes and Waffles That Wow

La Crème de Paris offers a blend of traditional French flavors with a modern twist, and let me tell you—they do not disappoint. As someone who spends their days perfecting pâtisseries (and as a Frenchman), I’m pretty particular about my crêpes and waffles. But from the first bite, I knew we were in for a treat. But of course, you know that the absolute best crêpes are the ones you make yourself at home – to do it the French way you should grab the recipe on our blog about the fête des crêpes.

My wife and I opted for the classic Nutella crêpe with bananas and strawberries, while the kids couldn’t resist the waffles, which were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside—exactly how a waffle should be. What really impressed me, though, was the variety on offer. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, there’s something here for everyone. And for those of you with dietary restrictions, La Crème de Paris has you covered with gluten-free and lactose-free options that don’t compromise on taste. If you’re looking for more GF, vegan or low GI places for sweet treats check out my fellow chef Sarah’s blog with recommended addresses for exploring Paris with dietary restrictions. The cappuccinos were also served with care and flair, which is nice to see when so often you have a frothy cup of ‘bof’ served up in some cafés.

A View That Complements the Experience

Aside from the food, what truly sets La Crème de Paris apart is the ambiance. The café is cozy yet chic, embodying everything you’d expect from a café Parisien. But the real highlight is the view. Sitting there with my family, enjoying our crêpes and waffles while gazing at Notre Dame—it was one of those perfect Paris moments that you just want to bottle up and keep forever.

A Perfect Parisian Day Out

After we finished our meal, we took a leisurely stroll along the Seine, the kids walking ahead as my wife and I soaked in the scenery. Just a short walk from the café is the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore, a must-visit for anyone who loves books as much as I love pâtisseries.
