New Metro Tarifs Explained

New Public Transport Fare System in Île-de-France from January 1st, 2025

Starting January 1, 2025, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) has launched a simplified fare system for public transportation across the region. New Metro Tarifs Explained: This update aims to make navigating Paris and its surroundings easier and more cost-effective for everyone.

Simplified Pricing: Two Fixed Fare Options

Public transportation fares are now streamlined into two flat rates:

  • Metro-Train-RER Ticket: Just €2.50 per trip, regardless of distance or destination.
  • Bus-Tram Ticket: Only €2.00 per trip, no matter how far you go.

These tickets can be easily loaded onto various devices, including:

  • Navigo Easy Pass
  • Smartphones (Android & iOS)
  • Smartwatches

For passengers using the T11, T12, and T13 tram lines, a Metro-Train-RER ticket is required until these lines are fully integrated into the Bus-Tram network later in 2025.

Without the Navigo Liberté+ pass, transferring from metro to bus will require separate tickets: one Metro-Train-RER and one Bus-Tram. To make your journey seamless, it’s recommended to carry both ticket types on your Navigo or smartphone.

You can store up to 20 tickets of each type on your chosen device. For added savings, reduced fares are available at €1.25 for Metro-Train-RER and €1.00 for Bus-Tram tickets.

Key Changes for Visitor Travel Passes

  • Navigo Jour: Now a bargain at €12 for all zones (previously €20.60), though airport transfers are not included.
  • Paris Region <> Airport Ticket: Travel to and from Roissy or Orly airports from any Île-de-France train station for a flat rate of €13. This ticket is compatible with all standard devices. Please note, RoissyBus and OrlyBus require a separate ticket at the same price.
Important Reminder: The Paris Region <> Airport ticket cannot coexist on the same device as a Metro-Train-RER ticket. Plan ahead and use two different devices if needed (e.g., smartphone and Navigo Easy).
  • Paris Visite: Enjoy unlimited travel across Île-de-France (Metro, Train, RER, Bus, Tram), including airport transfers—excluding tourist buses.
    Prices:

    • €29.90 for 1 day
    • €44.45 for 2 days
    • €62.30 for 3 days
    • €76.25 for 5 days
    • Children (ages 4-10) receive a 50% discount
The Paris Visite pass is personalized; you must write your first and last name on the back of your Navigo Easy pass if using this option.

Navigo Liberté+ Expanded for Regional Use

Starting January 1, 2025, the Navigo Liberté+ pass now provides access across all of Île-de-France:

  • Metro, Train, and RER: €1.99 per trip
  • Bus and Tram: €1.60 per trip

The pass offers a daily cap of €12, excluding airport transfers, and allows free transfers between bus, tram, metro, and RER services.

By spring 2025, the Navigo Liberté+ pass will be available directly on smartphones. Existing users will have their passes automatically updated.

What to Do with Old Tickets

Existing tickets, whether physical, on smartphones, or stored in a Navigo Easy pass, are valid until December 31, 2025. However, traditional magnetic paper tickets will gradually be phased out from use.
