The 5 Best Paris Coffee Shops Open on Sunday

Sunday’s in Paris are typically considered a day of rest for everyone – including many restaurants and coffee shops.  This leaves Sunday being the least lively day of the week, which includes its Café scene.   Luckily there are still options for those looking to have a lazy Sunday and a cup of craft roasted coffee to go with. Parisians are fortunate to have a few baristas who hop out of their bed on Sunday morning so we can roll out of ours for a café filtre. Not only are there some great options for coffee shops open on Sunday in Paris, many of these addresses have an innovative approach to the standard coffee shop, offering not just a great selection of hot beverages, but also a fun way to spend your Sunday. Here are a few favorite spots for a leisurely Sunday café experience in Paris:

1: Neighbours

Neighbours Cafe

This cozy café is as friendly as its name suggests, and is a welcome addition to a neighborhood that was seriously lacking high-quality coffee options. Neighbours, which is brought to you by the team behind Honor Café, is the perfect spot for a Sunday morning session due to it’s proximity to the Marché Bastille. After a morning of market shopping, stroll to Neighbours and enjoy their exceptional brunch menu, including sourdough crumpets with a variety of accompaniments, toasted granola, and the house specialty grilled banana bread with espresso butter. Added bonus: all day brunch cocktails!

It seems hard to imagine what people did on Sundays before the invention of brunch. However, in Paris the pre-brunch days aren’t such a distant memory, as breakfast, in general, is a somewhat new event in the city’s dining scene. Luckily for us, Hardware Société is one of the brunch positive places replacing our morning croissant with stacks of pain perdu and endless eggy brunch options. The coffee at this Franco-Australian owned coffee shop is unsurprisingly on point and the menu will be the only one you need to see all day, no one leaves Hardware Société hungry!
